E2: We need permitting reform that works for our economy and the environment
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 30, 2026) – Today, a group of Senators released text of the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act permitting legislation.
Following is a statement from Sandra Purohit, E2 Director of Federal Advocacy:
“We need permitting reform that works for our economy and environment — reform that gets new transmission built and clean energy projects connected quickly. That also must include ending the Administration’s clean energy permit blocks, which are keeping gigawatts of the cheapest power off the grid as prices rise for everyone. We are reviewing the text and look forward to working with lawmakers to ensure a proposal that delivers.”
