WASHINGTON, DC – During his address to Congress on Wednesday night, President Biden is expected to speak about his American Jobs Plan that promises to create millions of good-paying clean energy jobs with investments in infrastructure, clean vehicles and climate action.

Following is a statement from Bob Keefe, executive director of the national nonpartisan business group E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs):

“We now have a clear plan to take real steps to finally address the economic costs of climate change and seize the economic opportunities that come with clean energy and climate action. There’s no more reason for excuses; no time for delays.

“Now Congress must do its part, take these plans and turn them into legislation that will create new jobs in every state and new opportunities for workers from every walk of life.”

For more details and background, read more from Keefe’s blog here (After Biden Speech, It’s Time for Congress to Get to Work Creating Clean Energy Jobs that Pay Better, Are Available to All).

According to E2’s just-released Clean Jobs America 2021 report, more than 3 million Americans now work in clean energy in every state. President Biden’s American Jobs Plan promises to turbocharge the clean energy industry and create millions more jobs, with an emphasis on good-paying union jobs and new opportunities for low-income and communities and workers of color. E2’s fifth annual Clean Jobs America report includes localized data on jobs across every sector of the clean energy economy for every state, metropolitan area and rural areas as well.
