E2: If this stands, we’ll all pay more
WASHINGTON – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is expected to announce today that it will no longer limit greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, erasing one of the most critical climate policies of the 21st century. The move will also make it more difficult for future administrations to regulate carbon and other emissions causing more frequent and more destructive climate and weather-related disasters which now cos the U.S. economy more than $100 billion a year
Following is a statement from SANDRA PUROHIT, E2 Director of Federal Advocacy
“Costs are already high, and the Trump administration just made them higher.
“This is a reckless disregard for the economic consequences of pumping even more greenhouse gases into our atmosphere from outdated power plants that require dirty and expensive coal, oil and gas.
“Families are already paying more for insurance and energy. Businesses are paying more for disruptions and damages from rising emissions-related disasters. Instead of helping, this decisions doubles down on the very pollution driving those costs up.
“Congress and the courts need to step and fix this.”
