Statement from Director of Federal Advocacy, Sandra Purohit
WASHINGTON (July 1, 2020) – The House of Representatives today passed the “Moving Forward Act” (H.R. 2), a $1.5 trillion infrastructure bill that prioritizes clean energy to combat the looming threat of climate change and accelerates America’s economic recovery.
The bill includes investments in clean energy, clean transportation and grid modernization all of which will improve infrastructure that businesses and communities rely on while also addressing social and economic risks of climate change and improving resilience.
Following is a statement from Sandra Purohit, E2 Director of Federal Advocacy:
“Our leaders must focus on solutions that meet the severity of the challenges our nation faces. This package passed by the House today does just that, harnessing the potential of a clean energy transition to jumpstart our recovery, address our crumbling infrastructure, get millions of Americans back on the job, and defend our economy against the threat of climate change.
“We strongly urge the Senate to take up and pass this important bill so America can get to work building a stronger, more resilient economy.
“And with COVID cases skyrocketing again and the worst unemployment situation in a century, the need for both chambers to act now on a near-term stimulus that includes relief for the clean energy sector has never been higher. There is no excuse for the continued delay of relief for the 620,000 clean energy workers now unemployed.”
