Communications Director Michael Timberlake now Director of Research and Publications at E2

WASHINGTON – Seasoned communications leader Daniel Baker has been named Senior Manager for Media & Strategic Communications for the national nonpartisan business group E2. Baker brings 15 years of experience in print, digital and broadcast communications spanning the private sector, public sector, and government.

“Communicating the story of the growth and importance of the clean economy – and the attacks it’s now facing – has never been more important,” said E2 Executive Director Bob Keefe. “Daniel is going to help us do that in new and compelling ways.”

Baker’s hire is part of an expansion of E2’s communications and research work. As part of the transition, E2 communications director Michael Timberlake will become Director of Research and Publications for E2 and will oversee new economic analysis that builds on resources such as E2’s Clean Economy Works project tracker, its Clean Jobs America database, and its numerous state and national reports.

Baker most recently created communications strategies related to clean energy and small business issues for the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to his stint with the federal government, Baker developed and executed communications plans at World Resource Institute (WRI) for almost three years; helping steer private-sector finance toward nature-based solutions and accelerating the clean energy transition in six different countries on three continents. Before WRI, he oversaw communications and policy for a DC-area clean energy start-up.

“I’m thrilled to continue my climate career with such a prominent and trusted organization,” said Baker. “More importantly, I can’t wait to share the stories of the people building a clean economy. Ultimately, they’re the ones who determine what the future looks like…and I’m confident that it’s a future where everyone will prosper.”

Baker holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park. He began his career producing national radio and television for six years, including five at SiriusXM, launching and establishing SiriusXM FC as the country’s premier destination for soccer entertainment and news. Pivoting to a career in climate & policy, he earned his MPA in Environmental Policy Management & Law from the University of Colorado – Denver, before landing with WRI’s Corporate Relations team.
