Projects represent at least 9500 new jobs, $13 billion invested across 18 states

WASHINGTON – U.S. businesses announced funding and plans for 28 new large-scale clean energy projects and plant expansions across 18 states in March, according to a new monthly analysis from the national nonpartisan business group E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs). Based on publicly available information, the 28 announcements represent at least 9,500 new jobs and $13.1 billion in new investments*. Since the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) passed last August, E2 has tracked 155 new projects announced across 33 states that will add at least $75 billion and create more than 58,000 jobs. A full list of the projects is available below.

The Southeast continued to dominate new projects in March, accounting for 12 of the 28 projects announced. South Carolina led all states with four projects, bringing the state’s total of new clean energy projects since IRA was signed into law to 15.  The four projects also account for more than half of the jobs projected to be created by all 28 announcements in March (5,000) and are expected to bring more than $3.6 billion in investments to the heart of South Carolina.

The following is a statement from Michael Timberlake Purohit, director of communications for E2:

“A strong clean energy economy supports a strong U.S. economy, and the quicker U.S. clean energy companies can get to work building the technology hubs and manufacturing plants of the future the more American workers will benefit.”

In addition to South Carolina, the announced projects cover every region of the U.S., with Arizona home to three followed by four states (Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Texas) with two. Electric vehicles and battery manufacturing accounted for more than half of all projects (16) followed by solar manufacturing (3) and wind manufacturing (3).

*Majority of the projects do not have investment, job, or generation estimates as of this analysis.  .
