WASHINGTON (Oct. 30, 2025) – TIME named Bob Keefe, executive director for the national nonpartisan business group E2, to the 2025 TIME100 Climate list, recognizing the 100 most innovative leaders driving business climate action. For the third year in a row, TIME editors vetted people who delivered measurable progress with respect to the business of climate change, emphasizing tangible results over commitments.
In choosing Keefe, the magazine recognized his leadership of an organization that has uniquely worked across the political aisle for more than 25 years, to advance some of the nation’s most important clean energy and climate policies — at both the federal and state level.
At E2, Keefe helped launch groundbreaking original research and reports detailing the growth of clean energy jobs in America, the economic costs of climate change, and the economy-wide impacts of recent rollbacks to U.S. federal clean energy policies.
“At a time when climate policy can feel like the third rail of American politics, E2 continues to show that there’s nothing political about creating jobs, spurring innovation, or advocating for a clean energy economy,” Keefe said after hearing the news.
Naming Keefe underscored the importance of his and E2’s ongoing nonpartisan efforts to make the business case for climate action, especially in these polarized times. Amid the Trump administration’s attempts to derail America’s — and the global — shift to a cleaner economy and increase its dependence on fossil fuels, an organization respected by leaders from both parties is more vital than ever.
Other nominees include political leaders and entrepreneurs who have made an indelible impact building a stronger economy and more resilient climate. Under Keefe’s leadership, E2 has grown to more than 11,000 business leaders who work or do business in just about every state and across just about every sector of the economy. E2 members and supporters are committed to helping advance smart climate and clean energy policies at both the federal and state levels.
“Bob has established a truly inclusive approach to advocacy, bringing together people from all different sectors of the economy and all corners of the country, to deliver climate policies with both economic and national security benefits,” said Nicole Lederer, E2 Chair and Co-Founder. “E2 is pushing the envelope under Bob’s leadership. They provide a platform for all stakeholders to engage with the tangible and quantifiable benefits of climate action in our everyday lives, while understanding the risks of inaction.”
A former journalist, Keefe has authored two books on the economics of clean energy and climate change; most recently in 2024 with Clean Economy Now: Stories From the Front Lines of an American Business Revolution, preceded by 2022’s Climatenomics: Washington, Wall Street, and the Economic Battle to Save Our Planet.
