E2: “It’s time to finish the job for a better economy and a better environment”

Tonight, in his State of the Union address, President Biden is expected to highlight how the U.S. economy is already benefiting from the historic clean energy investments passed in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), Bipartisan Infrastructure Agreement, and CHIPS act.

Following is a statement from Bob Keefe, executive director of the national nonpartisan business group E2:

“The Inflation Reduction Act and other Biden administration policies are already beginning to pay off in an unprecedented rush of new clean energy projects, factories and jobs nationwide.

“Now, as President Biden says, it’s time to finish the job. For a better economy and a better environment, we need to make sure these game-changing policies are fully implemented, with equity at the forefront, to ensure the opportunities and benefits of the new clean economy are available to all Americans.”

Last week at least 38 new clean energy projects, expansions, and renewed production developments were announced across more than 17 states, according to a monthly review by E2. Both red states and blue states are already seeing the benefits from the climate and clean energy investments passed in the last Congress, and as clean energy job data shows, clean energy jobs are just as likely to be in Republican congressional districts as Democrat districts.
