ALBANY –  On Monday, April 26th, New York State passed a bill (S.2758/A.4302) that will require 100 percent of new sales of passenger cars, light trucks and off-road vehicles be zero-emission by 2035, and larger truck and bus sales by 2045. The clean vehicles industry in New York currently employs 9,000 workers, according to the 2021 Clean Jobs America report released last week by E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs).

“New York took a giant leap forward today to bring cleaner cars and the thousands of jobs that come with them to New York State. It is this rare type of legislation that consumers, workers, and climate advocates can get behind while ensuring New Yorkers up and down the state benefit.

“The transition to electric cars is already underway and this bill helps secure New York’s position as a global hub for clean energy jobs and investment for the next decade.”
