8 of 10 projects will be based in GOP districts

Businesses announced plans for at least 10 new large-scale clean energy projects and plant expansions in nine states last month, according to national nonpartisan business group E2’s June analysis of new clean energy developments. Based on publicly available information, the 10 projects would create at least 3,100 jobs and nearly $1 billion in new private investment.*

House Republican districts will be home to eight of the ten projects, including a $250 million solar manufacturing facility in Texas, a $152 million plant to manufacture electrolytes for electric vehicle (EV) batteries in Tennessee, and a $115 million steel plant in Indiana that will manufacture structures to support grid modernization, renewable energy, and electric vehicle charging projects.

Since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in August 2022, businesses have now announced more than 190 new projects totaling over $83 billion in new private investment across 38 states that would create at least 67,000 jobs.

Following is a statement from Sandra Purohit, E2 director of federal advocacy:

“Federal clean energy incentives continue to deliver once-in-a-generation economic opportunities for communities in both red and blue states across the country. These investments and tax credits are quickly making the U.S. one of the most sought-after destinations for clean energy investment and delivering thousands of new, good-paying jobs every month along the way.”

*This is a conservative estimate as many of the projects do not have investment, job, or generation figures as of this analysis.
