More than 600 business leaders from across the country publicly stated their opposition to the Trump administration’s proposed changes to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) in a letter delivered to the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) today.

The letter was signed by businesspeople including leaders of major companies, small business owners and investment company executives who work in industries ranging from high-tech and restaurants to construction and architecture. Signers of the letter work, live or do businesses in states stretching from New York to Florida to California and Washington and throughout the rest of the country.

In the letter, the members and supporters of E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs) point out that the proposed change ignores climate risks to major projects; reduces public input; increases risks to natural resources that are critical to many businesses and generates business and economic uncertainty. The businesspeople request that the proposal be withdrawn.

Following is a statement from Sandra Purohit, E2 Federal Advocacy Director:

At this critical moment, business leaders across America agree: This extreme proposal creates uncertainty, increases financial risk, and undermines the rights and interests of businesses and investors across the country.

“Despite the administration’s rhetoric, the proposed changes will cause far more economic and environmental harm than good, and should be withdrawn”
