SPRINGFIELD, IL (May 3, 2018) – The national, nonpartisan business group E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs) today unveiled an interactive map pinpointing where renewable energy is being generated across Illinois, the location of public EV charging stations and schools with solar panels, and where nearly 1,000 Illinois clean energy businesses (solar, wind, and geothermal) are growing.
“E2 created this tool to help policymakers, lawmakers and ratepayers better understand Illinois’ clean energy economy – and the role it plays in communities across Illinois,” said Micaela Preskill, Midwest States Advocate at E2. “The clean energy sector touches every county in Illinois and as the Future Energy Jobs Act is implemented over the next year, we anticipate even further growth and use of renewable energy by businesses, local governments and even schools.”
On the map you’ll find:
- Clean energy businesses: Locations of energy efficiency and solar, wind and geothermal installers.
- Renewable energy infrastructure: Existing and proposed utility-scale wind, solar and hydroelectric generation facilities larger than 1 MW as well as schools with solar energy generation and public EV fueling stations.
- Income per capita and legislative and congressional district boundaries.
The map details– at a granular level –where the state’s clean energy sector is most active and robust and where the state has even more potential to generate renewable energy from wind and solar.
