Statement from E2 Executive Director Bob Keefe
WASHINGTON (Feb. 4, 2020) – Tonight, President Trump will deliver his State of the Union speech with a strong emphasis on the economy and the nation’s energy sector.
Following is a statement from Bob Keefe, E2 executive director:
“It’s great that the president plans to continue to focus on the economy and creating jobs – because there’s no bigger or more promising job-creator in America right now than clean energy. Nearly 3.3 million Americans now work in clean energy. That’s more jobs than there are in fossil fuels, real estate, banking – and clean energy jobs are growing at twice the rate of the rest of the economy.”
“We hope President Trump will keep these good-paying blue-collar jobs growing by unleashing the opportunities that come with smart clean energy policies, instead of continuing to roll back such policies.”
In April, E2 plans to release its annual Clean Jobs America report detailing clean energy jobs – renewables, energy efficiency, storage, clean vehicles and other sectors – in every state in America. The report builds on E2’s extensive work tracking clean energy jobs in America, which you can find at www.e2.org/reports/.
