E2: Gov. Hickenlooper’s leadership on climate is good for state’s clean energy economy, workers

Denver (July 11, 2017) – Gov. John Hickenlooper today signed an executive order committing Colorado to climate action by joining other states in the U.S. Climate Alliance and in support of the international Paris climate agreement to limit greenhouse gas emissions and increase clean energy. Under Gov. Hickenlooper’s order, Colorado will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 26 percent by 2025.

Following is a statement from Susan Nedell, the Denver-based advocate for the national, nonpartisan business group E2:
“Thanks to Gov. Hickenlooper’s leadership, Colorado now has the framework to meet the Paris climate goals and keep the state’s clean energy economy growing.

“This sends a clear signal that Colorado is open for business for clean energy, and that’s good news for the 62,000 Coloradans who now work in clean energy and for all of us who value clean air, clean water and a healthy climate.”

Earlier this year, E2 released a comprehensive clean energy jobs report that breaks down employment in renewable energy, energy efficiency and related sectors for every congressional, legislative district and county in Colorado. For details on clean energy employment in your area, see here.

E2’s Rocky Mountains Chapter was started in 2007 and today includes business leaders, investors and others across Colorado who advocate for policies that are good for the economy and good for the environment.
