WASHINGTON – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is anticipated to announce of funding today for the first grant recipients from the $27 billion financing program created by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for underserved and disadvantaged communities, known as the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF).
The GGRF is a first-of-its-kind program with funds specifically targeting small, rural, low-income, and other underserved communities to help them combat rising climate costs, advance environmental justice, and accelerate the clean energy transition.
The following is a statement from Sandra Purohit, federal advocacy director at E2:
“The clean energy boom is America’s next great economic expansion, and the GGRF provides critical financing to ensure low-income and underserved communities reap the benefits of that boom and thrive as a result. It’s financing for real people and communities so they can own renewable assets, lower energy bills, and develop local clean energy businesses.”
