Opportunity Pathways for a Diversified Next Generation of the Clean-tech Workforce

Project Description

The average college environmentalist is not thinking about jobs in start-ups, business accelerators, or climate tech solutions when advocating for climate action and well-rounded sustainability jobs. Yet, there is a huge need for entry-level people in these spaces. The issue is that the language often used between college-level environmentalists and start-up communities is not mutually shared. By utilizing my own extended network I plan to conduct informational interviews with climate tech start-ups and clean energy organizations to (1) understand their business model and entry-level opportunities (2) consult with them in collaboration to create spaces for young people to serve as an asset, previously untapped.

Project Goals

The goal of this project is to demystify climate-solving jobs for young people. The end product will be an in-depth user-friendly inventory of opportunities as well as educational resources, with a focus on climate tech start-ups and the innovation space that can be shared wildly to broaden the vision of what it is to be a professional in this field.
