In the first six months of 2018, E2 leveraged its membership and nonpartisan bona fides to meet with dozens of members of Congress and federal agency officials at the likes of EPA, the Department of Energy and the Department of Transportation, to continue advocating on policies that are good for our economy and our environment.

Our spring advocacy trip, May 15-17, was emblematic of the ability of E2 members to bring a tactical, nonpartisan business voice to Washington. Their presence and wide array of investments and business interests helped secure more than 50 meetings on Capitol Hill and at federal agencies, two-thirds of which were with Republican offices. Our members advocated for continued funding for clean energy research, development and deployment, fuel economy standards, smart infrastructure, and climate-friendly agricultural practices.

Two E2 members also served on a panel before the bipartisan House Climate Solutions Caucus, and encouraged many of the policies outlined above. Out of a panel including giants of American business brands– like McDonald’s and Microsoft – E2 members stole the show talking about on-the-ground issues around clean energy.

Advocacy is a tedious business. It takes sustaining relationships with those you agree with, and building them painstakingly with those you often disagree with. Thanks to the efforts and knowledge of our members, E2 is able to advance advocacy in ways very few other groups can.
