WASHINGTON  (March. 23, 2018) –  Vital clean energy programs were spared massive cuts or received funding boosts in Congress’ massive 2018 funding packaged. The bipartisan spending deal rejects the deep cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Energy (DOE) clean energy R&D programs requested in President Trump’s Budget Request for 2018, instead either maintaining current spending levels or increasing funding to important programs.

The following is a statement from Grant Carlisle, advocacy director of the national, nonpartisan business group E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs):

“This spending deal is a big win for businesses and the millions of clean energy workers across the country. Together, Republicans and Democrats voted to support American innovation in energy and vehicle technologies.

“By soundly rejecting the President’s proposal to cripple renewable energy R&D programs, this budget recognizes that investing in the fastest growing energy sources is investing in U.S. jobs and global competitiveness. “
