WASHINGTON (October 9, 2017) – Today, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt detailed the Trump administration’s goal to roll back one of the most important environmental and economic policies in recent history, the federal Clean Power Plan.

The following is a statement from Bob Keefe, executive director of the national, nonpartisan business group E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs):

“Rolling back the Clean Power Plan will roll right over the 3 million Americans who now work in solar, wind, energy efficiency and other sectors, and damage our ability to compete with the rest of the world.

“If this administration truly cares about jobs and economic growth, it ought to remember that oil, gas and coal aren’t America’s only energy industries. It’s disconcerting that administrator Pruitt is quick to meet with any fossil fuel industry lobbyist who walks in the door, but continues to ignore the biggest and fastest-growing energy sector in America – clean energy.

“A recent analysis by E2 found weakening or repealing the CPP would cost Americans up to 560,000 jobs and $52 billion in lost GDP. This threat to our economy, our environment, and our employment opportunities should be opposed by policymakers in every state and in every party. Reverting back to the energy policies of the past isn’t putting businesses, workers – or America – first.”
