Advocacy
As part of Oregon Legislative Committee Days, E2 members trekked to Salem in September to build relationships with 14 members of the State Legislature and share the results of E2’s recent report Oregon: Changing Climate, Economic Impacts and Policies for our Future. This visit was a precursor to our return in February for the 2017 legislative session, where we expect mount a defense of Oregon’s Clean Fuels Program, pass a necessary transportation package and, if introduced as expected, support a cap and invest bill.

Recent Events
In July, more than 40 E2 members and community leaders gathered to launch E2’s Oregon climate and economics report and to hear and engage with three panelists. Our speakers and attendees addressed the report and its impacts on the Oregon timber, wine and clean energy sectors.

In late August an intimate gathering and BBQ at the home of E2 member, Erik Wohlgemuth offered the opportunity to follow up with likely member prospects (and their guests) who attended the July report launch.

Coming Up
On Nov 2nd, E2 will be partnering with the Hood River City Council on a half day climate event and bring the business voice into conversations that have thus far included only elected leaders and grassroots climate groups.  Hood River and the surrounding region sits on the Columbia River an hour east of Portland and is viewed by many as “ground zero” for climate impacts in Oregon. The area is rich in agriculture, cold water trout and salmon fishing, snow skiing and a burgeoning tech industry.
