N.M. is 5th fastest-growing state for clean energy jobs
SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Grisham signed House Bill 177, the New Mexico Match Fund Act, allocating $75 million to unlock critical infrastructure and clean energy federal funding passed in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The funds will be used to help revenue-strapped, small, and rural New Mexico communities access at least a $1 billion in funding from the BIL and IRA programs and grants that require a local match to qualify.
The following is a statement from Susan Nedell, Mountain West Advocate for the national, nonpartisan business group E2:
“New Mexico has one of the fastest-growing clean energy workforces in the U.S. and the natural resources to become a national leader in clean energy. The Match Fund Act will supercharge this growth, bringing over a billion dollars to New Mexico, thousands more clean energy jobs, and enabling the clean energy boom to reach the small, rural, cash-strapped communities too often shut out by past economic expansions.”
