Foreseeing Our Climate Future: What Will It Take to Limit the Damage

Overview

E2 will host a workshop to investigate what must be done to achieve our climate goals for the environment and the economy. Dr. Jason Jay and Dr. David Miller will lead us in using the interactive simulation tool En-ROADS to better understand the impact of different policies. Which options work? How much can they decrease emissions and warming? How quickly is action needed? The science and the youth climate strikers tell us the work to save our climate must be underway NOW.

Grounded in the most current peer-reviewed science and built upon extensive global modeling work done at MIT by Professor John Sterman and others, the En-ROADS model enables one to adjust global policies and other factors and immediately shows the impact of proposed solutions. Since 2008, the tool has helped policy-makers, business leaders and civil society in more than 88 countries to better understand the complexities of our climate challenge and build momentum for action, including the development of the Paris Climate Agreement. It complements and has been tested against other energy and climate models such as the Energy Modelling Forum at Stanford, and the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways.
