E2's Advocacy Work

The dedication of E2’s members and staff has led to many achievements over the years. Some of E2’s successes include: helping to pass and later defending the nation’s first bill to limit global warming emissions (California’s AB 32 and the No on Prop 23 campaign), advancing bills in New York and Massachusetts to improve freshwater and coastal water protection and management, advancing renewable portfolio standards in California and Colorado, and helping to shape a cooperative effort by Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states to reduce carbon dioxide emission (Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative).

Since its inception, E2 has been recognized as a leader in developing innovative approaches to protecting the environment while building economic prosperity. E2 has been featured in publications that include The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and San Jose Mercury News.

Delegate Trips Delegate trips provide interested E2 members the opportunity to meet directly with public officials. A delegation of E2 members travels annually to Washington, DC, Sacramento, CA, and Albany, NY, to meet face-to-face with policymakers and present the business case for our legislative agenda. We anticipate visiting a growing number of statehouses in the future. In addition, E2 holds an annual "DC Forum," offering members a day of training and briefings, followed by meetings with members of Congress on Capitol Hill. Visit our Delegation Trip page.		Action Alerts (Position Statements) Action alerts are position statements designed to harness the influence of E2 members. We circulate an Action Alert to members by e-mail, compile signatures, and hand-deliver the statements to policymakers. Creating a single, powerful document signed by business leaders is effective – opinion leaders quote E2 statements directly, from state legislatures all the way to Capitol Hill. Current Issues E2 has worked closely with NRDC to successfully influence smart, forward-looking environmental policy.
